Jan 11, 2012 So that's the update. The lesson here is - for those who need to go off plaquenil, be careful about just going off it cold turkey. Obviously some of CAN do that, but if you don't know if you're one of them - better to be on the safe side and wean slowly. Take it from me! I am feeling much better after bumping my dose back up over the last few. Feb 19, 2020 Plaquenil should be used only when prescribed during pregnancy. This medication is not recommended to treat rheumatoid arthritis during pregnancy. This medication passes into breast milk. Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug, meaning that it can take up to 6 months to experience the full benefits of this medication, but it is possible for symptoms to improve in as few as 1 or 2 months. So the reason for the post is to know if anyone here has had similar issues with unexplained fevers that cause chilblains? They typically form in the evenings and hurt like hell. It very mild case that is actually more sensitive to heat then cold.

Plaquenil is really a drug developed for Malaria, but when they gave it to the people with malaria who also had osteoarthitis in their fingers and toes, it stopped it. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis, which I have had since I was five years old. I also have Osteoporosis, and I am going to get an infusion of Reclast this week. Re should I take Plaquenil now or wait? Hi. I'm obviously only a patient, but it's my understanding that you can have cutaneous lupus---discoid, hypertrophic, etc.---without having positive serology. Aug 29, 2014 One of the reasons that physicians feel comfortable in prescribing Plaquenil is its low risk to benefit ratio. This means that the side effects of Plaquenil are mild and infrequent compared with its potential benefits. As with any medication, allergic reactions including skin rashes and non-allergic reactions can occur.
