    Stopping plaquenil for lupus

It does not work against certain types of malaria (chloroquine-resistant). The United States Center for Disease Control provides updated guidelines and travel recommendations for the prevention and treatment of malaria in different parts of the world.

Aug 29, 2014 In Sjögren’s, Plaquenil is used to treat many symptoms of Sjögren’s including fatigue, joint symptoms of arthritis and arthralgias joint pain, dry mouth and dry eyes. Similar to its use in systemic lupus erythematosus, many clinicians feel that it is useful in reducing general Sjögren’s “disease activity.” Most people are counseled to keep taking Plaquenil long after the disease is quiet. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, Celebrex®, naproxen Naprosyn®, etc. should be stopped if there is no pain. May 07, 2012 I have taken plaquenil for lupus off and on for two years one day I started having panic attacks I stopped caffeine alcohol etc. The only thing that helped was stopping the plaquenil after feeling better and some time I thought I’d try it again after a flare.

This medication is also used, usually with other medications, to treat certain auto-immune diseases (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis) when other medications have not worked or cannot be used. Discuss the most recent information with your doctor before traveling to areas where malaria occurs.

I can't believe you were told to stop taking plaquenil after only 6 months since it can take up to one YEAR to achieve full benefits! I don't know much about any sort of withdrawal but if I were you I'd start taking it again. I'd also have your thyroid checked. I'm hypothyroid and take levo along with he plaquenil. Plaquenil has been a life-saving drug for me, quite literally. I was a mess in 2004-2005 and then a dr put me on Plaquenil, and in 3 weeks most of my symptoms had disappeared. Aug 26, 2016 Plaquenil is supposed to stay in your system for 1-2 months after you stop taking it. Try to rest, stay hydrated and away from sick ppl for now and hopefully you will not have any issues
